|Since it inception in 1986, D & S Reporting Services, Inc. (D&S) has been providing Minnesota's wine and spirits wholesalers a state-of-the-art "restricted credit reporting service." D&S is pleased to announce its new alliance with the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America, Inc. (WSWA) for the purpose of expanding this service to wine and spirits wholesalers on a national level.
The concept is relatively simple. Most states have in effect some form of "liquor credit law" which strictly limits the credit relationships between wholesalers and their retail customers. In these states, a wholesaler may not sell wine or spirits on credit to a retailer which is delinquent in payment to any wholesaler for a specific period of time (e.g., 30 days). To realize the benefits of a restricted credit law (i.e., the drastic reduction, if not virtual elimination of bad debt), wholesalers need a reliable reporting mechanism for posting delinquent accounts. It is this service which D&S has been providing to the wine and spirits wholesalers in Minnesota for almost fifteen years, in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Alcohol & Gambling Enforcement and the Department of Revenue. By entering into an exclusive services agreement with D&S, the WSWA, as the national trade association for the wholesale tier of the wine and spirits industry, recognizes the unique ability of D&S to provide the same superior level of service for the wholesalers situated throughout the country.
Our on-line inquiry functions provide easy and secure access to the information required by a wine and spirits wholesaler to be in compliance with local liquor credit law and is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
